Do you know WHERE you are? When Moses was given the instructions for building the tabernacle in Exodus 26, the Lord told him to make a veil to separate the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place.
“And you shall make a veil of blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen. It shall be made with cherubim skillfully worked into it. And you shall hang it on four pillars of acacia overlaid with gold, with hooks of gold, on four bases of silver....
The Church loves its history. It loves its past successes and triumphs. We should celebrate the amazing things that happened in the past. The testimonies of what God has done are an encouragement and build faith for the future. But, what we tend to do is camp there. We want to reproduce our past glory and not keep moving as the Spirit moves. I will post more about this in the future as I have a number of examples of this problem, but I wanted to get one of my favorites posted to start the discussion....
If the fall never happened, would the church exist? Would there be a need for the organization of the Church (choosing my words carefully here)? No. There would be probably be a need for organization as the population grew, but it would be like nothing we’ve ever experienced before. People would love each other. We would relate to the Father in a way that we’ve never seen because it would be both corporate and personal....
Worry contradicts the intent of the Gospel to restore us to a non-toil based relationship with God. Adam was told that he would bring forth what he needed from the ground with toil, worry, grasping in an attempt to accomplish what was needed in his own strength. Jesus brings us the sabbath rest of being in him, having everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:2). Refuse to worry!...
